In this opening session of the conference, Mr. Brad Travis, chief meteorologist from WAFF-TV, Huntsville, will set the stage by recapping the situation when a tornado swarm hit Northern and Central Alabama on April 27th. Mr. Travis was broadcasting the events as they unfolded.

Then, the director of the Alabama Emergency Management Agency (EMA), Mr. Art Faulkner, will deliver an address to discuss how the EMA and local public safety officials responded to the devastating impact of two EF-5 tornadoes and numerous other touchdowns Alabama on that same day.
