Rocket City Geospatial & Alabama GIS Conference

Overview

The Rocket City Geospatial and Alabama GIS Conference 2011 will focus on several themes and we invite individuals to submit presentations on the following topics:

  • LiDAR – Data capture and exploitation
  • Remote Sensing – Image analysis and processing
  • Cloud computing – Geoprocessing in new platform as a service environments
  • Crisis Mapping – Health and human safety during natural and terrorist disasters
  • Defense and intelligence applications (GEOINT)
  • Cybersecurity and geospatial technology
  • Pervasiveness of new applications in citizen engagement and authoritative data sources
  • Public safety and law enforcement
  • Transportation
  • Next generation E - 911
  • Postal addressing
  • Census 2010 & redistricting

Because of certain events that have impacted both local and international communities we will have a particular focus on these topics:

  • Emergency Response to the Tornado Outbreak in Northern Alabama
  • Location and Security of the Nation's Nuclear Power Plants
  • Cybersecurity and Geospatial Technology

We invite presentations on these topics between June 1 and September 30; see our Call for Presentations. Please consider submitting a presentation on one of these topics with regard to initiatives for both state and local government projects and their impact on the environment, military base management and commercial applications. With today's economic climate, supporting projects for new roads, bridges, and other economic development, geospatial technology is at the forefront of helping government and its leaders become better informed to make better decisions.
