Alicia Potter is a senior at Alabama A & M University. She will be graduating in December 2008 with a BS in Urban Planning and a minor in Remote Sensing. She presented research at the American Planning Association Annual Conference in 2007 and 2008. She resides in Huntsville, Alabama with her husband and two children. After graduation, Alicia intends to seek employment in or near Huntsville in the GIS field.

A career Naval Officer, Art established the Navy's first GIS. After finishing graduate work in GIS at the University of North Carolina, he joined the Atlanta Regional Commission serving as the GIS Manager since 1993. He was in the first group of GIS professionals to receive certification as a GISP. He pioneered the use of oblique imagery for homeland security applications. Art recently joined Pictometry to manage projects using oblique imagery for military applications.

Bob Baron founded Baron Services in 1989 after 22 years of broadcast meteorology experience. A graduate of the University of Tennessee, he is a long-standing member of the American Meteorological Society (AMS) and in 1982, earned the AMS Television Seal of Approval (#281). In 1996 his peers recognized him as the small business executive of the year, and in 2004 he was a finalist for Inc. Magazine's Entrepreneur of the Year award. He was honored by the National Weather Association with a Special Achievement Award in November, 2006. That same year, the Alabama House of Representatives awarded him a commendation based on his companies' contributions to the safety and well-being of the general public. In 2007, he was named Entrepreneur of the Year by the Huntsville/Madison County Chamber of Commerce and was also selected as a finalist for the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year awards. In June, Ernst & Young honored Mr. Baron with the Entrepreneur of the Year 2008 Award in the technology category for the Southeast Region. The award honors the most outstanding entrepreneur of a technology-based company in the states of Alabama, Tennessee and Georgia.

About two years ago he recognized the need to build a GIS for his department, the highway department. While constructing the GIS, he designed a very user friendly interface now known as "GeoTrans". A Birmingham firm, GIS Inc, built the interface based on the design.

Dr. Glenn Weathers attended Auburn University, receiving his Bachelor's degree in 1965, and then his Master's degree in 1967, both in Electrical Engineering. He was awarded a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering specializing in Communications Theory in 1972.
Dr. Weathers has been with Applied Data Trends, Inc. (ADT) for the past ten years and currently serves as Vice-President and Chief Technical Officer. For two and a half of those years at ADT, Dr. Weathers managed the development of command, control, and mission planning software for the PATRIOT Tactical Command System. Dr. Weathers has forty years of experience working in the aerospace, defense, and high-technology industry in Huntsville, Alabama. He was an Executive Manager at Intergraph Corporation for twenty one years managing custom extensions to Intergraph commercial software products.

Jason Briley is a seasoned Sales and GIS Professional; a GISP with nearly 20 years experience. He began his GIS career in 1988 with a regional agency serving several local governments. In 1992 he entered the private sector as a GIS Analyst with a small software company; then as a GIS Consultant when he started his own business in 1995; and finally, as a GIS Project Manager with a mid-size engineering firm in 2001. He continued essentially along that path through early 2008. During that time he served in various capacities; including, authorized reseller and authorized instructor for ESRI software. In early 2008 he accepted an offer from TerraGo Technologies to serve as Sales Manager for its Southeast Region and currently holds that position.

He is employed at SICS Consultants in Florence and has had the opportunity to work on multiple state government projects as a member of the SICS team. Joe Moran is the lead of AMRDEC's Warfighter Protection Laboratory. The lab has a Geospatial Intelligence cell that supports, develops and researches geospatial issues that are uniquely related to Force Protection and Homeland Security. In addition, the lab has a Disaster Assessment and Research Team (DART) team that support ARNORTH with GIS support for national exercises and homeland defense and civil support missions. Joe's most current work has been in investigating the use of modeling and simulation technologies and applying it to DOD Force Protection and Homeland Defense applications. Phillip Henderson is the GIS Manager at the Office of Water Resources (OWR) with the Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs (ADECA). Phillip provides geospatial services in support of a wide range of initiatives at ADECA and OWR. Two new GIS initiatives started this year include the statewide Water System Mapping Project and the National Hydrologic Dataset Stewardship Program for Alabama. Phillip holds a Bachelor's in geology from the University of Alabama with additional studies in GIS and computer graphics. He has 19 years of experience in GIS as a GIS specialist, project coordinator and manager. He is a licensed Professional Geologist and has authored and co-authored several publications.

He has worked on geological projects in Alabama dealing with coal quality and resources, oil and gas source rock evaluation, carbon sequestration feasibility, and paleobotany. Ryan Pecharka has been employed with The City of Prattville as GIS Coordinator in the Department of Planning and Development since January of 2004. The scope of GIS involvement varies greatly in other department endeavors. GIS serves Citizens, Planning, Engineering, Police, Fire, EMA, Wastewater, Sanitation, among others.
Prior to moving to south central Alabama, Ryan worked in GIS with the Lucas County Auditor in Toledo, Ohio. Ryan graduated from Bowling Green State University in Bowling Green, Ohio. He holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Geography/Geoscience with a specialization in GIS, as well as linguistics. Ryan lived and studied in Spain at the University of Alcala de Henares. In addition to the future of GIS, Ryan is also interested in Geodesy, and Geodetics.

Tim Troutman is the Warning Coordination Meteorologist at the National Weather Service, Huntsville, Alabama forecast office. He has held this position since May, 2002. Primary duties include the program management and leadership of the local Weather Forecast Office's warning and preparedness program. Prior to this assignment, he was the NOAA Weather Radio and Dissemination Meteorologist at the National Weather Service, Southern Region Headquarters in Fort Worth, Texas. Tim previously worked as a senior forecaster at the National Weather Service Forecast Office in Melbourne, Florida and previously was a forecaster at the National Weather Service Office in Nashville, Tennessee. He began his National Weather Service career at the Weather Service Office in Evansville, Indiana in 1989. Tim is a graduate of Western Kentucky University with a bachelors degree in Broadcast Communications in 1989 and a Masters Degree in Science in Hydrometeorology in 1999.
